GK MB2-500 A00 thermal shutdown/protect

I've got 2 MB2's and one MB 500. The latter works great, but the 2 MB2's had issues. GK fixed one and it's been good for 11 months. The 2nd one works for approx 30 mins and then begins turning off and back on, over and over. I called GK and took it to a service center and that tech said he couldn't get it to do it for him. It did it again as soon as I played it again. Has anyone had one repaired with the A00 serial number that worked?? If so, approx how much was it?

I'm debating whether to repair or let it go cheap for someone else to deal with. It's really a backup anyways and not getting enough use.

My GK MB2-500 has been good as gold so far...
But, if it starts to act up, (and with knowing the problems the MB2's have had in the past), I won't mess with a local tech, mine'll go back to the factory with Bob G.'s knowing it's coming!!!
I'd suggest you e-mail GK and tell them your a great customer, (you've got "THREE" MB micro heads), one needs the manufacturer's touch...

GK wouldn't fix the 2nd one cause it was used when I got it. I called them and they suggested taking it to one of their "authorized" techs, which I did, 75 miles away. This guy claimed the amp worked perfectly. I got it back and it did it the first time I played over 30 mins.

I play through an Ampeg 410HLF and an 810 fridge. I have four other GKs that work through them no problem.

I just wanted to know if anyone had a successful repair other than GK. GK will repair it, but it's not cheap for their labor and shipping. Maybe not worth it for me.

Hopefully you meant or ? Those amps aren't rated for a 2 ohm load.

Nah man, I usually run one GK 500 watt amp through one cabinet at 4 ohms. I like to run two at the same time though. I'm deaf as hell.

I've fried a few amps running at mismatched ohms. Sounds great for a while
