GK MB2-500 head through an ampeg SVT 410 HLF classic issues

I just bought both of these pieces off of the talk bass forums.

I picked the ampeg cab up locally and dave88 mailed me the head.

I've been having issues where it seems like there's a grounding issue because with my basses pluged into this head/cab setup i get an awful high pitched popping / static kinda sound which goes away when my fingers are on the bass string or I place my hand on the amp head.

There's a sorta "pop" when I put my fingers on the string (i put my fingers on the string so lightly it doesn't vibrate).

I've just taken the head and my squire jazz to a shop along with my monster cable. The head was dead silent at his shop and I had none of these issues.

I did get a speaker cable and 1/4 to speakon adapter at this shop because I first tried to use an instrument cable and found thats a no no.

I've found it's a lot worse with my squire jazz then with my ray 34.

I've also found that my cab is not ( almost 99% sure ) the issue. I've plugged a pair of headphones into the amp (with having the speaker cables removed from the amp ) and I still get the same high pitched pop noise as described before.

I've even tried two different outlets in the same room and took it into the next room with the same results.

My guitar / amp tech seems to think it could be an issue with the electricity in my house. I'm taking my stuff down to my buddies where it's going to be staying anyways and try it there.

I'm not so sure it will be better at his house but I'm out of ideas?

Any ideas/advice?

What Rev is the MB2-500? I remember some RF troubles on some revisions. Could be noise from a computer power supply affecting the amp.

PM rag see if A05 still had the noise issue. I'm not positive if A05 had it resolved.

If the amp was silent at the shop it must be something giving off interference in your house. The reason it goes quiet when you touch the strings is because your body acts as a shield which also tells me that there is some electrical interference in your house.

There is something with this house... I took it to my buddies and it worked fine.

We were outside but still the amp had none of the issues it does at my house. I even dragged my ampeg SVT410 HLF cab there. Played fine!

Guess I gotta figure out why my house doesn't like my amp
