Question GK MB2-500 problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Don't get me wrong, I love my MB2-500, but sometimes I get a weird wind-rushing kind of sound in my cab. It goes away as I turn down my Master volume, but not when I only turn down the Gain.
Any ideas out there?

Does it happen when you're NOT playing?

And if so, does it happen when your bass is NOT plugged in, i.e. when the input jack is empty?

Yes, there is noise when I'm not playing. I think also when the bass isn't plugged in.
There is noise when the mute button is enabled.
And it's not a grounging issue because it doesn't matter if the ground is lifted or not.

My guess is a noisy power-amp driver circuit, but whether I'm right or wrong it sounds like warranty time.

What happens when you enable/disable the limiter with no instrument plugged in? (Same deal though -- it's all academic if it's still under warranty.)

I'd call 'em up and see what they have to say. Chances are better than even that they've seen the problem before or at least will be able to guess what it is from the symptoms.

It' not a MB500 so no limiter. I assumed it wouldn't be fixable by me, but i thought i would see if someone had run into something similar. it's an early version number that i bought used so it's not surprising me that something is going wrong.
thanks for the input.
