Hi All,
Has anyone used the Gallien-Krueger MB200 head with the Ampeg SVT-210AV cabinet?

I would appreciate any feedback or general impressions.

Thank you!

sorry, i haven't tried the mb200 with the 210av, but honestly, there is only one micro head worthy of the 210 av...my bass tech nailz agrees:

Jimmy, I read your killer review of the Ampeg gear, and it sounds killer.

Can you think of any reason why the Ampeg head would be any better that the GK? Or any reason the GK would be any worse?

I know you haven't tried the GK, but would appreciate any insights you could provide.

Cute grandson, BTW...future amp tech perhaps?

well look at it! 'nuff said!

seriously, the mb200 is pretty well reviewed on here. the price is very good, and it does weigh substantially less than the micro av (not that the micro av weighs much at all, but i guess for some that's a consideration). but the ampeg has one thing that i've never heard out of a gk product...the ampeg sound. and if you get both head and cab at the same time, you can get a $100 rebate till the end of the year, which brings the price of each to $250, and bridges that money gap even closer. got a lot of respect for gk products...well made, good sound...but it ain't ampeg.

So a Google search turned up this thread: GK MB200 & Ampeg Micro-VR

What's funny is that wasn't really what I was searching for, but anyway...

Hope this link might be useful for anyone else with the same question as I was asking.

mb200

Tried all configurations of gk and ampeg. The mb200 head sounds better than the ampeg, which is a little too glassy. Best combo was mb200 head with the micro cab. I've been playing for 20 years and Gk has always been better to me, I like to cut thru the mix not get buried
