GK MB200 Headphone Out Help Needed

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All,
I was hoping anyone with a GK MB200 amp could help me out.

When I plug in headphones to the output, I get no sound via the headphones. I also notice that the amp continues to send a signal via the main speaker output.

I have checked the push switch to be sure it is in the right position for headphones (not line out), but nothing.

Is it expected behavior of this amp to send signal to the speaker even when the headphone is plugged in? (I would have expected it to mute the main speaker).

I cannot imagine this is rocket science, but I must be over looking something simple if I cannot get a signal through the headphones.

Thanks in advance for helping me out. I appreciate it.

Sounds like you have a problem with your amp. I can confirm when I plug headphones into mine that it does NOT cut the signal to the speaker, but I do get signal in my phones. I would bet you are still under warranty. I know, not the answer you wanted to hear, bummer.

Same here. I wish it cut the signal to the speaker. Not a big deal because the headphone-out does sound great.

You can always run it with no speaker load to avoid amplifying your playing while using the headphone out.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Being able to cut the signal to the speaker seems like a no brainer...not sure why this wasn't done in engineering this amp.

Otherwise...love this thing!

For me, it's better that it doesn't shut off the speaker. It gives you another line out (feed a tuner, etc) to drive other things and keep the main power amp operational. Just unplug the speaker, or if you are using a speakon, give it a little turn to break the circuit.
