I have the MB210 combo and a 210 MBE extension cab. I was thinking about getting the MB210 Ultra Light amp head when it's available. I just thought if something would happen to the combo I could use the MB200 UL head as a back up with the 2x10 ext cab. When I do country I don't need a lot of volume anyway. With the MB200 amp head and the 210MBE cab would the output be 200 watts? Also has anyone had the chance to try this...the MB210 Ultra Light with the 210MBE cab? Thanks.

I just wanted to make sure that there would be no harm done by using the amp head with an 8 ohm cab like the 210MBE. If no harm would be done I may take my ext cab today and try one of the ultra light amps out. I think they may have one(St. Louis). I'll call in the morning and see if they do have one.

When I showed it to my bandmates at practice, one of them asked: "Whose dashboard did you steal it from?"

| | | | I received my MB200 just before heading off to praise band rehearsal tonight. I ordered it not thinking I'd be very impressed and mainly just to use as a practice head, but dang!!! This little head rocks!! I'm thinking or getting a small light weight cab to go with it and use it as a complete rig option for smaller venues. now I'm gassin for a cab! ugh its never ending!!

Tonight I took my new MB200 to replace the AI Clarus. OMG ! What a great combination! The MB200 had as much or more low end and was every bit as warm as the AI Clarus (which I find to be warmer than most solid-state amps). It took some fiddling to get mids and highs equal to or greater than the Clarus, but they were there. The G-K's tone stack has more capability than the AI's, of course, and I'm anxious to become more familiar with it.
For my typical, old school, bottom-heavy tone, it was truly killer. Deep and warm to be sure, but surprisingly faster and cleaner than the Clarus. Sixteenth and thirty-second notes in the first octave were as full, yet articulate as I can remember hearing. My bandmates--most of whom are gearheads--were mightily impressed. What a practice/backup amp for $210 !
I'll stop gushing and go experiment some more. This is my first experience with G-K. Are the MB 500 and MB Fusion like this as well?

Not to venture too far off topic, but I am also extremely impressed with GK's Neo-series cabs, especially the Neo112-II and Neo212-II. These cabs can seriously hang with other top-tier brands costing much, much more. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
