Question GK MB200 vs Ampeg PF350?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm going to purchase a GK MB200 or an Ampeg PF350 very soon. I really like the GK, but I'm worried that it just doesn't have enough power. So, the Ampeg PF350 is my next choice.

I'll be using the amp with a 4ohm Avatar Neo 4x10, and play in small (about 100 people, max) venues. I'll be playing with one electric guitar player with a 2x12 amp, and un-mic'd drums.

Also, price is a consideration. I would rather spend $50 less on the GK.

So, will the GK MB200 cut it, or should I go with the safer choice of the Ampeg PF350?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Or you can look for a good deal on a MB2 500. I just got one on clearance at GC for $359.00.

Good luck

You may even be playing bigger rooms in the future, so why not the Ampeg PF-500?
You can't go wrong with having more power than you need, and not having to upgrade later. Cheaper, anyway.
As far as your question, alot of people are happy with their GK's and the Ampegs are brand-new and still under review.
You might consider used, but I like new when it comes to amps.
Anyway, good luck.

FWIW, I just ordered the PF-350.

Thanks for the replies.

I just picked up the PF-350 today. I went to my local GC looking for the GK MB200, but saw this for $50 more for a 100 more watts. Another deciding factor for me was that my local GC didn't have the MB200 in stock. If you've got something to trade, even small, that can more than make up the extra $50 dollars spent on the Ampeg.

So I won't be rehearsing with a band with this thing until Thursday, but I plugged it into one of my 4ohm Avatar B210 Neos, and it seems to me like it's going to be plenty loud enough. I've got my big amp when I need it, but this looks like it's going to be the ultimate small venue/practice amp for me!
