GK Mb200 vs SVT-350h

Okay guys.
So I have to decide about this.
I'm putting together new bass rig, and I have a few options. Mainly two:
GK Mb-200 and a SVT-350H.
Here are my concerns:
I play in a band, and we don't do a whole bunch of shows... but we do enough to the point of needing a decent amount of power. Our drummer doesn't hit really hard, probably about average. Then the guitarists have a Fender 212 DSP (200w SS) and a Marshall E50 (50 watt SS, tube pre)
Is the Mb-200 going to cut it? They both have a DI, so that does help.
With the SVT, it Weighs 44 pounds, and the Mb weighs 2. So there's a gigantic difference there.
For cabs, I could go with a Carvin 410, 8 ohm (not sure of the model), or a Ampeg 410 (which is considerably more expensive, but 4 ohms), or a Peavey 410.... which I'm not really keen on that one.
I would be buying the SVT for $350 used (possibly a bit cheaper, I might be able to talk him down.), or the MB for $300 bucks new.
For review:
Carvin 410: $200
Ampeg 410(HLF I'm assuming): $400
Peavey 410: $125
GK MB-200: $308 (taxes included)
Ampeg SVT-350H: $350
Which is the best combination?? I don't have a lot of money to spend. The guy wants 400 bucks for the the ampeg cab, which is a friggin lot!!! Also, in regards to the 350H, does it have a speakON out? It looks like it has a cap overtop it... or something. Can you remove that?? I'm quite confused about it, even after reading the manual.
Any input would be appreciated, and please try to speak in terms that I will understand! I'm pretty knowledgeable, but I'm not informed about really technical stuff!
Thanks guys. |
