GK MB210 Metallic buzzing?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been playing with my MB210 and lately Im noticing a metallic buzz on certain notes. I cant figure out what it is. I dont think its vibration of the grill or anything like that. Anyone else have a similar issue and can point me in what to look at?

I'm betting it's a stray wire inside or it's a loose screw somewhere. (In the cab, not the player!)

As SF mentions above, have you established it's not the bass or the cab by swithing those out?

If so, before even opening the case, can you peek inside through the openings on the side and see any issues, loose wires, something foreign rattling around inside?

On my MB210 the screws holding the power amp on came loose causing a rattle

I had the exact same issue with an MB210 and a couple of MBE115 cabs. Check the round wire screen that covers the piezo horn. Sometimes they fall off and end up inside - stuck to the magnets of the speaker. Other times it's just vibrating where it sits.

I also had trouble with the piezo horns at high volumes. They would break up pretty badly with a "metallic" sound.

I ended up with GK Neo Series cabs and haven't had any of those issues.

yeah i guess i will check all the screws and open it if need be. Im sure its not the bass, I have 3 different basses, the sound is in different venues so its not placement. It's not just high volume, @ a 3 on volume it will do it on certain notes, so thanks for the input, guess i need to get off my ass and investigate LOL.
