GK MB212 Hammers Out Another Gig!

Sign in to disble this ad
Played to a packed house at the Back Room Blues Bar in Boca Raton last night, and my mighty GK MB212 kicked some butt! Not as impressive looking as my big rig, but the sound that comes from this little amp is amazing! And 37 lbs!

We do Etta Jame's version of Born Under A Bad Sign, and I use my Octave pedal to give me a real FAT sound. And the MB212 did not even flinch! And did I mention 37 lbs! My drummer and keyboard player hate me! Well snapped a quickie photo before we tore down.

Pay no attention to the nude female in the background.

It's great to hear so many awesome reports on this and the MB210. I'm seriously looking at making one of these my main rig. The idea of traveling with something so small makes me happy.

How can it sound that good and be so cheap?
What don't you like about it?

I was just thinking that my 55 lb TL606 wasn't cutting it last night at an outdoor show and that I'd need to bring the Berg 322 for next months'; let me think 90 some lbs + amp vs 37?

The only things I don't like which are more nit picky things is this amp does not have an effects loop/tuner out or a mute switch. But I make do with an A-B switch, does the trick. But is does weigh 37 lbs! 38 lbs with a full beer on it!

For bigger venues I still use a Carvin B1500 with two Avatar B210 Neo cabinets (2x10).

A great sounding rig too. The Carvin B1500 is one of the cleanest, punchiest heads I've ever used. I can really dig in on my solos with zero worries of farting out or distortion.

But the Carvin head by itself weighs as much as the whole MB212! Did I mention the MB212 is only 37 lbs!
