GK MB212 tweeter rattle

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone here had any luck fixing the dreaded rattling tweeter in the MB212? i just got mine tonight (after i paid for overnight shipping) only to find that the tweeter rattles very loudly when i have the amp turned up past 1/4 volume. is it worth messing with it, or should i just take it straight to Guitar Center and have them take a look?

ugghhhhh

its not a tweeter rattle

one of the main drivers is messed up

The noise that I am hearing from the area of the tweeter is the rasping sound of the uneven airflow being pushed through the body of the tweeter by the driver jumping around erratically.

you read about all the quality issues with these MB combos, and you think, "My combo couldn't possibly show up broken"

wrong! i am still excited about the amp, it is just disappointing to be shipping it back to GK to be fixed after having it for 24 hours...

I here and feel your pain, I had this problem with GK, make sure they pay for the shipping back. This happened with 3 of my combo mb212's. Jason has been great, talk to him he will take care of you. The amp sounds great hopefully they will iron out the kinks.

Unhappy

well, the guys at GK have really been dragging their feet. i was finally able to get a shipping label out of them after a week (i had to call about 3 times on separate days before they sent the R/A number and shipping label). So, I got the amp packed up and shipped off, and watched the tracking number on UPS every day until it finally showed to be out on delivery... then it turns out that they are closed for the week between christmas and new years. i guess my amp is sitting in UPS purgatory right now. the thing that really irks me is that if they would have sent the shipping label when i filled out the return authorization paperwork (or even with in 3 days or so), my amp would be sitting in a nice temperature/humidity controlled environment instead of a UPS warehouse. I have been nothing but extremely polite with them through every step of the process, but i am starting to get upset (not to mention i have no decent sounding amp right now since selling the SVT-4 pro and my 8x10 cab financed this purchase)

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Bob and Brian @ GK took care of me and quickly when I had an issue with the board not staying where it should inside the amp and rattling.
