I, for one, like the option of a graphic eq with the Carvins. I own the BX1500, and have owned the BX500, and pretty much use the graphic EQ exclusively, finding it alot more helpful in eq'ing different rooms. Since it can be used with the parametric eq, it's a wonderful option to have, along with a compressor, that makes the Carvin the best bang for the buck bass head, imho. Once you move up to the BX1500, you get all kinds of options, for a couple hundred bucks more, with not that much added weight. The only bummer with the BX1500 is that it needs to be rackmounted, adding more weight, but, get a light weight rack bag and you are good to go.
