GK MB800 and MB Fusion heads

Sign in to disble this ad
I am now seriously looking at the GK heads as my new rig.

I am particularly interested with these two featherlight heads and would like to know which one has the most GK 'grind' tone in it to suit my Ric and Lakland basses the best.

Let me know !!!

I'd like to know their differences, too. I have an MB500 which I'm very happy with. I believe it's probably identical to the 800 in features and tone. But the Fusion has a tube preamp and I wonder to what extent it may give me the kind of sizzle I now look to my SansAmp bass driver to deliver.

I own an mb fusion but have never tried the mb500 so i cant really comment on the differences. I can say though that the mb fusion is one of my favorite heads i have owned and i have owned alot of amps in my time. The tone is warm punchy and just the perfect amount of grind and sizzle to it. I would suggest at least giving one of these a try out. I also own an swr headlite which i like but it doesnt come close to the fusion for volume and punch. The mb fusion has more power than i will ever need and is the best purchase i have ever made in an amp head. I also have a vt pedal but like the sound of this head better without it.

That seems to be exactly what I need. An amp with a little grind and sizzle !!! I will try it sooner than later !!

this is my experience too. I did try a mb500 but found it a touch too clean for tastes. It can get grindy but not quite like a 700rbII. The MBFusion just pure kicks ass. I sold my Vt pedal after getting one.

I have the fusion as my main amp and a little mark 3 as my backup. I love the tone and grind I get from the fusion. The Markbass seems more powerful while the fusion has more play in the tone you get. My guess would be the fusion would be fine unless you have a need to have the extra power of the mb800. In most cases 350 watts @ 8 ohms / 500 watts @ 4 ohms watts works for most settings. Good luck.
