vaporware?

I'm wondering if the G-K MBP powered enclosures aren't the next "vaporware" in the industry like the Mackie guitar amp.

I just took up bass and traded a MusicMan Silhouette guitar for an Ibanez SR750. I sold my Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue amp and got a G-K MB-115. I read a post where G-K was offering to modify the amp by adding an output jack for +10db out for those of us that had existing MB series amps and purchased an MBP. I'm thinking the company's beancounters may have torpedoed that plan.

It would make more sense for G-K to sell the MBP's with a kit of resistors and an XLR-M panel jack that would be conected parallel with the speaker(s) so their extension cabinets could be used with any amp, not just a particular line of G-K's.

The way I understand it, the GK powered cabs will work with any apporpriate input. The DI outs on the MB amps, however, are not variable with the volume control so they would not be good to use without the GK "revision," thus the offer to revise. I'd expect the powered cabs to work with lots of pres, though.

If they're supposed to be in stores this month, they must've started assmbling them in China a while ago, so I'd be pretty surprised if they don't eventually appear. Whether they'll be delayed is a different matter.
