Got to chosse between those two cabs.. The GK is roughly 300$ less than the Schroeder. It is going to go with my new GK Fusion head I just got here on TB !!!
Help me decide !!! I want to have my Ric bass shine and growl as much as possible and really want to go the 2X12 route.
Let me know your thoughts!! |

I've never heard a Schroeder cab I actually liked. Plenty of midrange bark. Not a lot of guts. No real low end.
The GK cabs, on the other hand, are a great match to the GK heads. The Neo 212-II is well-regarded, and apparently for very good reason. There'll be no lack of punch or guts, that's for sure.
Growl? Don't rely upon your cab(s) for growl. That's on you...

I tried the cab, and after 30 seconds playing it, I realized it was damaged.... There was obviously wrong with it as it 'rattles' like crazy at low volumes. I tried different settings, adjusted the head, and the rattle was still there and really unpleasant ! I tried the head with different cabs and they all sounded great, but not the GK.... So, I left the store without a cab ! I tried the Mesa 2X12 and yes, these sound pretty amazing... I am still withotu a cab I guess for now anyway ! |

Light and loud with great sound. I'm using it with an MB500 micro head and plan to get a second one soon.
As for trying a damaged cab in a store, that happened to me a couple of months ago. Tried a GK Neo 115 and it rattled like crazy. The guy and I looked at each other and I came out and said it: your cab needs some TLC, bro. Too bad, because a lot of guys like that cab a lot. |

But I played a 700RB through a Schroeder 1212 BMF this week and loved it. I read a lot of talk about them being too mid voiced, but it had paaalenty enough bottom for my needs. I wouldn't even have to boost my mids. The contour and bass knobs deepened it up nicely. |

| | | | I have a 1212BMF cab and vastly improved the tone simply by adding some white batting material to the inside of the cab. It was not insulated at all and the difference is substantial. Way less bark and a much smoother sounding tone. Great cab!

Great cab! | The lack of insulation bothered me, at this price point such compromises are hard to understand IMO.

Anyone know where I can get a flashing blue light for the top of the two 2x12 stack? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
