GK Neo212-II and 212MBE

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking for a single cab solution to run with my MB500 and EBS HD350.

I am leaning towards the GK Neo212-II. It gets a lot of great reviews. Today I have an Aggie GS112 and Avatar B210 Neo. I like them together but not too much by themselves. By themselves they just don't have the punch and depth that I am hoping a good 212 would have.

At 51 lbs. The Neo212 seems managable. For those who have carried one, does it schelp pretty good? And is the GK tolex durable?

I am also tempted by the lower cost and lower weight of the 212MBE. But I am really looking for a cab with a good tweeter. I am not fond of the ones in either of my cabs and I believe the Neo212 has a better tweeter than the 212MBE. Anyone compare the 212MB combo to a Neo212 GK rig?

Also the dimensions on the 212Neo nearly match the Avatar B210 just in case I need the extra kick. And I could see myself picking up a GK head with the biamp option in the future.

Trying to get my ducks in a row before the Labor Day sales.

The Neo212 has better low end than the 212MBE. I had looked at the MBE stuff, but they don't have the low end of the Neo. IMHO they are a good choice for small gigs where you don't need a big fat sound.

I find the GK Neo 212 very easy to schlep. It's very light and the handles are well placed. Casters work good, too. I'd recommend getting a cover for it, even though the tolex on mine is fine and I don't have a cover- I'm just careful loading it and unloading it, and the light weight makes it easer to not damage. If you want to keep it pristine though, a cover would be the way to go.

Good feedback. Thanks. Keep it coming.

Speaking of covers, where do you get one for the Neo212-II? The GK store does not have one for the Neo212 (either version).

Yeah, it's quite schleppable at 51 Lbs (and I'm almost 60). Casters are great and will work on a real firm earth surface IME (not damp). Handles are great. I dumped mine of the back of a stage onto asphalt pavement and the polyethylene corners took the punishment...scuffed but not bad. Tolex was not touched, but tougher than most is my sense.

I got a cover but I don't think it was the right one as it is tight as hell so I go without. A big hefty bag would do if rain is the issue.

I'm a very satisfied customer with the Neo 212-II. Really shines on big outdoor gigs, too...plenty of bomp. Better definition than a 15.

The one cab you may want to consider if u r looking for rugged as a brick ****house is the Mesa Powerhouse 212. Adds 25 lbs but it is a beast in perforance and ruggedness.

The Mesa stuff looks great. A bit out my reach financially. And its bigger and heavier. I would have a hell of time getting it up the basement stairs and into the back seat of my car. But I bet it sounds great.

I use the NEO 212-II with a GK 700rb II it has lots of low end, good definition, and punch. It an get very loud and I am well pleased with it.
