Like the title says, my rb 700 (oldest version) shuts it self down after about 15 mins playing. Anyone else experience this problem? What did you do to fix it. Thanks.

local music go round has a swr350x or a hartke lh500 for about $250 each, maybe I'll trade the 700rb for one of these.which one?

Dead fan, maybe? (Even the earliest 700s had fans, correct? Or were they convection-cooled?)

I agree with Craig....that sounds thermal. You don't have it rack mounted do you?

If so, that adds to the air restriction unless you have a full open space above.

If it shuts down, the power LED goes RED, then it's overheating and should come back on in a couple of minutes. Your fan probably isn't coming on. The fan on that amp should come on after playing one or two louder songs.

I had a few different 1001s shut down on me when i used them on backline rental dates...never had that with a 700.. Actually never used a 700..But It would only shut down briefly..
If i really dug in , the amps red LED would come on.. sound would stop coming from speakers for about 5 seconds.. Seemed like an eternity on a gig... These were large theater rock gigs.. Good thing i was running a separate DI..
After 5 seconds it would come back on.. Frustrating too... And i was only running a 4 ohm load.. Your typical 810 cab...
Since that time (over a year ago) I always fly with my Shuttle9 or Streamliner900.. They never shut down...

I got my 400rbIII to shut down with a 1x10. Heat is heat with an amp designed to have a fan cool it. You should be able to play it for a couple of minutes and see the fan start turning when you look down into the top. If it doesn't, then the fan or fan circuit is toast.
