GK RB 800 Bass Cabinet recommendations needed!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I'm relatively new to the bass, and I just bought my first non-combo (even remotely "pro") bass head: a GK RB 800. Does anybody have any recommendations for cabinets that work well with it? I'm looking at options across the price range spectrum. Thanks for the guidance!

^^ I was going to say that. Or the 115HE.

If you want to keep the clean growly tone an Eden 210 works a charm too.

If you're in North America, an Avatar Neo 210 or 212 would be a good budget option for your first cabinet.

I'm using mine with an Ampeg 810e. They go very well together.

hmmmm

I'd go an Avatar 212 NEO on the bottom amp (4 ohm version) and a NEO 112 on the top amp (8 ohm version). Now you have 400w pumping through three 12" speakers.

well to narrow it down, do you know how big of a cab you need? i.e. what kind of gigs are you playing/hoping to/planning on playing?

I own an ampeg classic 410hlf. i really like it and they can usually be had used pretty cheap.

Bag End S15-D's all the way - GK and BE are very complimentary, and the high sensitivity of the Bag's help wring every last watt out of the GK.

Here's a recent video I did of the pair:

I got a Sonic 18/210 with my GK 800rb, sounds really good too. I actually don't need it any more, now I just use an SWR Son of Bertha 115, it's 8 ohms so that cuts it to about 200 watts output, but I get a really nice punchy, round sound. Set gain and boost strait up 12:00 and master as needed. Been thinking I should put a 2-10 on top to get more out of it, but the 15 works great alone. P bass with Duncan 1/4lb. and Labella flats.

Probably a matter of taste. Try everything you can with your head. I really like my 700RB-II with my Epifani cab.

I have been using GK for years. I would suggest a GK410RBH or an Ampeg SVT410HLF.
