Question GK RBH Cab's - 2x410's or 410&115?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey I'm getting a GK 1001RB-II Head and a single 8ohm GK RBH 410 to start with (with the intention of adding a second 8ohm RBH cab later..).

I hear alot that most 410's can actually accommodate 'lows' better than their 115 counterparts, mixing drivers may cause 'phasing' issues, and that two identical cabs running together is one of the best cab combinations.

So I'm keen to hear people's thoughts on mixing driver sizes (in particular with RBH cab's or not) and using two identical cabinets (in particular with RBH cab's or not).

Of course I'll be trying out both combinations to hear for myself anyway..

Thanks,
David

I run my GK 1001RBII through 2 x SWR Goliath III 4x10s cabinets. And the sound is unbelievable!

I assume you get adequate lows through the 10's then?
Seems like I'll probably settle on the 2x410's but I'll give both the cab combo's a listen first..

The general consensus by people who are good at crunching the physics of sound is that it is bad to mix speaker sizes. It is also a fact that a good 4x10 will be louder than a 1x15 (more cone area). Nevertheless, there are many who mix a 4x10 with a 1x15, particularly with the GK RBH cabs.

You'll just going to have to try yourself.

Sorry, I've been no help at all.

The Exact came setup i run and i Love it!! I ran a swr 410 and 115 setup for about 2 years....and to tell the the truth the 115 had nothing for bottom end that the 410 had. When i finely got my second 410 the difference was night and day.... I finely got the sound i have always wanted and lowend and punch that will Knock you back to the Future!! When ever i play a gig people are just amazed with how it sounds....and they are right It Sounds INCREDIBLE!! Best Of Luck!!Cheers Mate!~Elliot

Cool

Thanks for your comments!
I think theoretically I'll be going for the 2x410's but I'll give the 410+115 combination a listen anyways!
Thanks!
David

AMEN Jimmy...lol... You right nothing wrong with listing to a 410/115 setup....It will just make you appreciate the 810's that much more and relies that you dont want to do what i did and spend all the money trying out different setups when i ended up getting the 810s i always wanted anyways...but was just to stupid not to get them in the first place....All forward from here no looking back!!
