GK sbx-115 cutting out

I recently got this cab used from a friend. I've checked it all out, and the wiring seems fine, fuses are good, continuity is fine from the cable to the speaker (I'm running it bi-amped, so no xover concerns). It sounds great at low levels, and for about 45 minutes at high levels (keeping up with a drummer, guitar and keys). At that time, it starts cutting out! I'm pretty sure the problem is right at the connecton to the driver, cuz when I fiddle with that while its getting signal, it works. Any ideas or do I just need to get a new woofer?

Get a magnifying glass and a strong light and look closely at the wires connecting the terminal lugs on the basket to the voice coil at the back of the cone. One TB member recently fixed a similar problem by (re)soldering those wires.

However, if by "the connection to the driver" you mean the connection to the voice coil right at the cone, then it's possible the voice coil's opening up at high temperatures -- a symptom of prior abuse. But check the wires and resolder anyway, if it looks like the connections are flaky.
