Question GK set up what will work

Sign in to disble this ad
ok so this is a basicly simple question that has probably been asked but im new here so ill just throw it out there.

im selling my set up and getting a new one but its coming along slowly i have bought a new Gallien-Krueger 410MBX 400W 4x10 Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn

and i want to get a Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II 700/50W Biamp Bass head

now i only have one 4X10 cab 400 watts 8 OHMS and that head puts out 700W to the woofer at what i beleave is 8 ohms ( if anyone knows for sure that will help alot) and im wondering if it will be to much untill i get another cab i heard that with heads its good have the watts a little more than the cab so you have head room but im wondering how much is to much and also if i get another cab that puts out maybe a Gallien-Krueger 210MBE 400W 2x10 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn what will the shared watts be that that head is putting out and will it be wise to get another cab with a tweeter?

i hope this makes some kind of sence

If you do get a second cab a second 410MBX cab would be the best bet for you be cause the 2 speakers in the 210MBE will get twice as much watts it might sound good actually but you don't want to overpower your speakers. You don't have to worry about the tweeters because you can turn them off if you need to I hope this helps.

The 1001RBII operators manual says:
460W @ 8 ohms
700W @ 4 ohms

The 1001RB-II puts out 700 watts at 4 ohms, not 8. It also puts out 50 watts to the horn. The 210MBE will handle 200 watts at 8 ohms so I would suggest getting a NEO 210 which will handle 400 watts at 8 ohms. If your current cab is also 8 ohms and you add another 8 ohm cab, you will be running your head at 4 ohms with a max output of 700 watts.

Hope this helps.
