GK + Trace Elliot questions

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I'm looking tat two rigs for gigging (I already own them both) So my question is simple, which amp would you use to dial in the cleans, growl, punch, what ever term you prefer. I'm planning on running them both on stage and EQ'ing each for its strongest point.

I've gigged the Trace rig (AH130 head and single 15" TE cab, early 80;s Tonal bliss! Now adding the GK MB155 into the rig with the TE I'm wondering how best to use them in as a dual comb..

Thanks1

You are certainly most qualified to answer your own question, since you have all the gear. Expiriment, then tell US.

Also, the sound you are looking for might now be what others consider "punch" or "growl" These are your definition of a sound you have in mind, and I think you would be the best person to find which one fits what you have in mind.

No way I'd want to do a show under those conditions. You could find together they sound really hinky out in the audience. Only you wouldn't know.

If you can get a crossover into the situation and biamp them I'd stack the MB on top of the trace bin and highs and lows respectively. Nice HIFI in the room but not much louder than either rig on their own. I don't think there's any way of "poorman's biamping" using the EQs of the amps.

If you absolutely need more volume I'd want to use the trace pre, because I'm biased like that, and send the effects out to the MB aux in. But don't blame me if the speakers don't play nice together run full range.
