GK vs Fender

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone. Im adventuring to get my first "real" bass amp. I was looking at getting a combo amp thats practical to haul around from my house to my drummers basement to gigs etc. I was checking out the "GK MB115 1x15 200W Ultralight Bass Combo Amp" and the "Fender Rumble 150 150W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp" because both have had great review by some of my friends. I noticed that the GK is a lot lighter than the fender, but the fender had alot more effects and what not. I was wondering if you guys wantd to way in. If there is a combo amp that you have in mind that you would recommend that would be great aswell!
Thanks!

I haven't played through that GK before, But i have played through the fender.

I like it. A buddy of mine had one at his house so any time we'd jam i'd just use his. Sounds good and is plenty loud for what i needed it for (jamming, not necessarily gigging). The DI out made it so I was able to use it in church when necessary.

That being said, I have a GK head and a 2x10 right now (700rb-ii for what it's worth). I recently did some research on getting a new amp and many people told me to look into the GK 400rb (the old school one). Pairing that with a 2-10 will still be small enough that it's portable (my head+210 hasn't been a problem at all when it comes to carrying it, and i'm a 5'9" 135lb skinny guy haha) That might give ya a little more power for the gigs.

Not trying to convince you to choose a head+cab over a combo, nor discouraging you from choosing either of these amps, just passing on what I know from experience, as well as what i heard when i was conducting my own search!

And if it's worth anything, i love my GK.

good luck!
