i have not tried them together, but the hydrives are great cabs and would easily sound really good with a gk head.

Thanks JimmyM.
I'm looking for a 410 more on the light side (I'll have to carry it up stairs to the second floor when I arrive late at night) that can work as a stands alone even though I want 8 ohms so I can add another cab if necessary. It should handle a B-string and all the power the 1001rbII can put out (which can take lots of cabs into fartland!) I'm also more into a little scooped sound. I have a Schroeder 1210r that just "wonks" too much!
Other options I should be looking at?

I'm thinking of purchasing a similar set-up to this, so i'm interested in this thread.
I've looked around a bit and havn't seen many people using a GK amp into a Hydrive cab.
Hope someone has experience in this forum for you

can't guarantee it won't go into fartland with the 1001 rb but it seemed pretty hefty when i've played it.

Yes. Two 8-ohm 2x10s, rather than one 4-ohm 4x10...

I was talking about a 8 ohms 410. So I can add another cab later if/when I need it (another 410, a 210 or a 115). Do you guys think (or know!) if the hydrive 410 will go into fartland with the gk? These is very important to me.
What I'm really looking for is a light 8ohm 410 that can handle all the juice provided by the gk1001rbII without going into fartland! I'm also looking for a cab that has more of a scooped sound. I have a 4ohm shroeder 1210 which has a midrange push that I don't like and if I eq it out I lose all the power.
Any thoughts?
Thank you all.

I can fart it out with my shuttle 9. But I have to play loud and lots of low Eb to B notes.

I don't know about the 410's you are looking at, but I can tell you about the Greenboy fEarful 15/6/1 I just completed.

I've been using a GK 1001 rb 2 for the past three years and I've never really heard what it can do until now. I've used it through 2-15 cabs with various drivers, custom built TL-606's with the new 3015's, and the Epifani UL-112. Nothing has come close to exploiting the full potential of the GK before.

The lows go to a whole new level, lots of mid presence, and crisp controllable highs.
I even get to do something with the GK's horn circuit: it runs just the horn, an Eminence ASD 1001.

Thanks for the input. That sounds great. Anyway I'm really looking for something already done. I'm not into the diy thing! Even though I like the idea.

Look into the GK NEO410. I own one with a 1001RB-II and the pair sounds awesome together. Light too!

david, is there a reason you don't just go to a music store and play this setup for yourself? i would think even in portugal they'd be pretty commonplace at music stores.

The GK Neo 410 meets your specs...also consider 12's. Two 8-ohm Neo 212-II's would give you a pretty deadly rig and a lot of flexibility.

Hi. Thank you all for the input.
JimmyM - They are not common place in Portugal. I've checked quite a few musicstores in Lisbon and everytime I see something that might interest me I try it right away and probably go back with my head and my bass.
I guess the gk 410 neo might be the thing. I had seen the specs somewhere and they were wrong. I've checked with the gk site. The cab weights 68 pounds. I had read 82!!!!.

How would one define the gk410neo's sound? Midrangey, scooped, flat, ... ?
Thank you all once again.

yeah, I've heard about them. Thanks for the help. They're still 3 and a half hours away in a driving distance so I guess I won't go there on purpose. Next time I go to Porto I'll drop by. Thanks again.
