I don't think so, it's the same preamp section in both... power amp is stronger in the 1001. I've owned the 1001 and played the 700 and noticed no difference.

Hi. I am from Ukraine, and now I come to visit my friends in US and try 1001RB-II. I was pleasantly surprised with clear and punchy sound with so sweet highs and solid lo mid... So I decide to buy one to my rig. I am from Ukraine and don`t have a local GK dealer in my country. I want to buy 1001RB-II in US. But in my country AC 230V 50hz...
Can I to switch AC from 110v to 230v (maybe jumper or switch inside amp)
PS sorry for my English

Word has it that the difference in tone is manifest in high-volume, high-gain situations: the 1001RB-II typically remains clean (unless we're talking stadium-level crank here),while the 700RB-II begins to "hit the rails".

At low-to-moderate levels of volume, it's pretty much the same head...

I don't know about that. Have you considered simply using a pro-quality voltage transformer instead?

Otherwise, your best bet is to contact GK directly...

According to the manual, the input voltage is factory set for the region.

And your English is fine. Considerably better than my Ukrainian.

I believe there has been much discussion on this very topic. There is a tonal difference between the two at lower volumes. The 700rb is warmer sounding. This from personal experience switching between the two at the same settings but volume matched with the GK head/cab switcher at my local Guitar Center store.

700rbII FTW. The 1001rbII is just too much. In fact, I'm finding the 700rbII is too much for my current situation, and am waiting, not so patiently, for the re-introduction of the 400rbIV. A pushed GK rb series head is a wonderful thing!
