Straight Talk, the Lil'G came about by my current church bassist William Woodson (aka Preach) presistenlty bugging me about building him two small 12" cabs. Needless to say, when one day inspired to build I discovered I didn't have enough wood for two cabs. The end results, necessity being the mother of invention, lead to the evolvement of the Lil'G. Brad who is not only a great artist but a world class friend helped me to tweak and revise the prototype into an amazing little cab. Without Preaches insistence and Brad's nudging, this cab would have been little more than a one shot deal for my bassist. Then you guys invested your thoughts and ideas and now we have something others can enjoy, so thank you for helping me make the musical spaces in our life sound a little better.
I am presently working on refining the Slap'G, a 210/15 combination (currently be played by David Dyson). I have been blessed to build basses and cabs for David for a number of years now and he still calls me his friend; go figure.
I am still trying to find ways to reduce the cost while maintaining serious articulation and sonic presence; that Dyson sound. Maybe it will be ready by the end of the month. Until then I have a few pieces on EBay. Here again, Brad is indispensable he has played them all and can objectively describe their tone.

Again,it's been awhile since I've bought anything that's never been played,so I haven't worried about it. But IIRC,it was either my old SWR cabs,or maybe Eden gear I think, that the owners manual suggested the low volume break-in. Not that I ever really followed it,anyway
Anyway, can't wait to get it/try it out! Judging by all the posts here,I'm sure it will be everything I hoped for & more!
Pics when I get them

| | | | He, he, he, he, I can't wait for practice! That loud guitarist is going to think twice about engaging in a volume war with me now!! He and his Marshall half stack are not going to believe their ears!! I just may point the Lil G in his direction. After a few minutes, he's going to feel like he was worked over by Mike Tyson, in his prime!!
OK, where is the "evil grin" emoticon???

Rev | Amazing how serendipity turns out sometimes. That Lil'G is quite an innovative design. Looking forward to see how that Slap'G turns out. Will it be 4 ohms? Should be a monster.

I'm really interested in a Lil'G with either a Eden WTX500 or a MB LMIII. Anyone play this cab with either amp? I play with my church band. A lot of fingerstyle, some slapping if that helps.
Thanks |

Thanks | I used to own an MB LMIII, and and I also play for my church band. As can be expected, that setup rocked pretty hard. I personally found the MB to be less versatile than I wanted, so I bought a Shuttle max 9.2 lol

Thanks | As Sammie mentioned, this cab started with Preach wanting small 1-12 cabs. He wanted to find something he liked more than his favorites, his Aguilar GS112 stack.
If you're looking at buying an amp to go with the Lil G take a hard look at the Kustom KXB500. It does it all and can be had new for around $300. I use mine interchangeably with my Acoustic Image Clarus 4 Series 2. Great combination.
Much better value than the two you mentioned with the caveat that you're not looking for an amp that colors your sound right off the bat (Eden). Kustom thought of just about everything for this bargain priced head...nice power (500w that runs cool at 4 ohms), low weight, a ton of features and a five year warranty. Pretty hard to beat IME.
For around $1200 you'll have a world class ultra portable rig. I know I do.

Should be a monster. | I just spoke with Sammie about Dyson's setup. It's a Lil G 210 on top of a Lil G sized 1-15. If he's able to find the tens in a 16 ohm version that could end up a two 8 ohm cab stack or two 4 ohm cab stack that you can match up to your amplification of choice.
When I get a 4 ohm 210 I tentatively plan on using my Michael Pope Designs Mitre Box preamp into my Crown XLS1000 power amp, at 7 lb. it's a very lightweight power amp (I'm still waiting in vain for someone to offer a 1/2 rack high power class D power amp). Again, I have nowhere that I even need this setup, this one would just be for fun. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
