If you're looking at buying an amp to go with the Lil G take a hard look at the Kustom KXB500. It does it all and can be had new for around $300. I use mine interchangeably with my Acoustic Image Clarus 4 Series 2. Great combination.

Much better value than the two you mentioned with the caveat that you're not looking for an amp that colors your sound right off the bat (Eden). Kustom thought of just about everything for this bargain priced head...nice power (500w that runs cool at 4 ohms), low weight, a ton of features and a five year warranty. Pretty hard to beat IME.

For around $1200 you'll have a world class ultra portable rig. I know I do.
I'm definitely going to be checking out that Kustom head. I briefly researched them online a few days ago, and I'm definitely interested. Especially after Malcolm told me it sounded as good or better than the current crop of lightweight powerful heads. I love my ShuttleMax 9.2, and even though it's light, it's pretty bulky when I fly on a plane or have to pack my car for road trips.

When I get a 4 ohm 210 I tentatively plan on using my Michael Pope Designs Mitre Box preamp into my Crown XLS1000 power amp, at 7 lb. it's a very lightweight power amp (I'm still waiting in vain for someone to offer a 1/2 rack high power class D power amp). Again, I have nowhere that I even need this setup, this one would just be for fun.
Do you think Sammie will find a way to actually combine all three speakers in one enclosure? That'd be pretty innovative! He could do two front firing tens with a down-firing 15"...I'd have to pony up for that one!

stix_clgi,
You should definitely check out the Tecamp Puma 900 or 500. They are so small and lightweight that I sometimes feel I could put it in my back pocket like a wallet. It weighs under 3#.

The sound is huge, tight and sounds wonderful with the Glasstone cabs.
Several of us Glasstone owners run with the PUMA.

Been subbed to this thread for a bit, and I'd like to add a Lil G to my arsenal, for sure! Got too much gear (that's me talking, not the lady in my life), so I was wondering...

Would anyone be interested in swapping a Lil G cab for a Lakie Skyline 55-01? Perfect condition functionally (action can get stoopid low and it's modded with a pair of Nordy Big Singles and Aggie OBP-3 pre); cosmetically excellent (only defect is light swirling in the slap spot).

I'm fine with an older Lil G (don't need the rolling cart or tilt-back feature; wear marks OK, as is the handle located on the top).

Or maybe someone would want to buy it outright?

Haven't yet listed it in the classified section, but I thought maybe somebody in the Glasstone crew might be planning to buy a different/newer model and surplus a Lil G...

Anyhow, PM me if of interest.

An 8ohm Lil G 210 on top of an 8ohm Lil G 15 would slam and match up very well with those micros which can drive 800-900 watts into the 4 ohm stack or 500 watts into a single 8 ohm cab. You'd also have vertically aligned drivers which improves dispersion. That would be a potent modular stack. Can't see needing more than that.

I'd really like to try one before I jump. I'm just afraid that all of these micro heads sound similar. If they do, I'm not necessarily trying to spend $1k on a Tecamp 900. I was thinking about putting the ShuttleMax up for trade/+cash to see what's out there.

Kinda bummed my Lil G won't be here in time for my gig tomorrow... Seems I talked it up to my friends, fans, & bandmates a little prematurely. Lol
But on the bright side I'll have more time to discover its possibilities before it sees a stage.

I don't know... that would be a pretty good sized cab. Plenty of cabs that size already. Seems like he's working in the other direction... smaller and modular.

Well I had a Shuttle 900 (not the max) and I still have a Streamliner 900 as my backup. I did not care that much for the Shuttle but really like the Streamliner.

However for me, the PUMA wins by a large margin...at least for the sound I am looking for.

I have been debating on selling the Streamliner and getting a PUMA 500 for my backup.. Not sure if I want to spend the extra cash though right at this moment. Strong possibility down the road.

I still have one. Once I got used to how I had to set the gains it worked much better for me.

If I'm going to be banging I still prefer the Kustom. Finesse gig, Acoustic Image all the way, sometimes with the Mitre Box up front

I really like the GB SL900 with my LIL G. So much, I just traded a Shuttle max 9.2 for another one for backup. I also, have a shuttle max 12.2. To push both cabs if needed. Right now, I just use at home for practice. But, the SL900 will be my gig amp. I've owned both Puma 1000 & 500 amps. Personally, I like the power soft models better than the ICE models, lost warmth & fatness. The GB shuttle max kind of remind me of the ICE 500 model I had. I sold it real quick. The only thing that hinders me from getting another Puma is the DI. No control of the ground/lift. I ran into that problem at church. Even though it was the church wiring, when I had my Aggie TH500, I never had that noise issue until I was trying the Bonafide.

I have to vent to some people who get it-
My Lil G is sitting @ the FedEx ground station in my town, scheduled to be delivered Monday. I have a gig tonight that I'd like to break it in on,& don't mind picking it up. But all I have is 1-800 numbers telling me I can't. Talk about frustrating! Ha
At least I know it's here, but honestly,I think it's worse knowing its just down the road & I can't play it.
Oh well... Nice lesson in patience

Try going to the FedEx location, sometimes the Supervisor on Duty, will make exceptions.

Thanks Sammie, but what the operators were saying is FedEx air was open, but ground was closed.
No worries! I appreciate all you did to get it here ASAP. I'll just get more time to explore it before the next gig
Should have it tomorrow. Pics coming soon!
