Glockenklang Heartrock + Carvin 4x12

Sign in to disble this ad
A few weeks ago I aquired a Glockenklang Heartrock in a trade for a Peavey 5150 and Ibanez RG7420. 700$ worth of guitar gear. Don't know why I had them considering I am a bassist and not a guitar player. Here's the thing I really love the way the glock has a lot of volume and doesn't colour the tone of my bass.

I run a custom Carvin 4x12 bass cab with this. Its rated at 8 ohms. I know it doesn't matter if your head is lower then your cab rating. But with the glock I feel like I have a V10 in a mini cooper. Any problems with glocks being to powerful for half stacks? Any info/advice on being a new glock owner would be great. I love this amp so far but its new to me. I am use to using a GK800 and SWR SM 500 so I am in a new arena now and a little cautious with this beast.

HOW DID YOU GET A HEART-ROCK FOR $700 WORTH OF GEAR?

(Yes, that necessitated caps lock.)

You should have no problem with that pairing. No such thing as underpowering or overpowering a cab, if you have a decent set of ears and competency with a master volume knob. Read the Talkbass FAQs.

That's exactly what I thought. 700$ worth of gear for a Heartrock!!!? lol I got it from a local consignment shop. It was either that or a Aguilar DB 751. I have been playing a long time and know about both these amps just never owned one but heard glocks are harder to get and suited more towards my style. Haven't pushed my cab too hard with it so I feel ok with it. Just needed to hear others opinions.

I've owned the DB 750 and the Heart-Rock, concurrently, for over a year. Both are fantastic. If I had to choose one, it would be the Heart-Rock, hands down. (But I was never one for the inflexibility of the DB 750 pre.)

Have fun with it. And please consider selling it or trading to me if it doesn't work out.

If for some reason the Heartrock doesn't work out for me I will definately let you know. Pretty excited but I will see how she holds her own on some upcoming gigs. Thanks for the help.
