Good amp for Fender Jazz Bass (70's style)

Just wondering what a good amp would be for a Fender Jazz bass. Preferred price range around £200 - £300. Any recommendations?

Seeing as a Jazz bass (like almost any bass) can be used for just about any style of music, you are going to get as many answers as there are different amps and none of those answers is going to be much use to you at all.

What sort of music do you play? What's the amp for - home practice, small gigs, or what? Is your Jazz bass passive or active? Do you want a combo or a head + cab? What sort of size and power are you after? What sort of bass sounds do you like? Are you going to buy new or used? Are you planning on keeping it long or reselling soon to upgrade? Do you prefer modern or vintage style tones/design? Is weight an important consideration? Do you plug straight in or use any effects? Do you want to do any recording? If so, DI from the amp, or with a mic? What amps have you tried in the past and what did you think of them? Et cetera.

Well, preferred style of music is metal/heavy metal/rock/alternative. Really, it would be mainly home, definitely not a head and cabinet because they are pretty exspensive.

In that case, I'd definitely check out the Roland Cube bass amps and pick one that suits your size requirements and budget. There's an absolute bargain in your budget right here, good size and power for home use and has some great built in modelling, effects, tuner, looper etc. I reckon you'd love this. Be quick...
