Good amp for street performing?

i bought the roland micro cube xl for bass last year. i just wanted to test the waters out with how street performing was, and while it was fun there were many times things like busses and giant groups of people would overpower the sound of the little 15 watt. i used to play in D.C. with this crazy crack head guitar player and he somehow wired a regular amp into a rechargable battery. don't know what ever happened to that guy so i'm not able to ask what he did. it seemed easy, it was only a black and red wire to the battery.

so basically my question is, for bass, do you guys know of any good rechargable amps that may be around the 30-50 watt range? or is there a way to take apart a regular combo amp and hook it up to a battery? please hit me back!

DC to AC inverter like this http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=125-320. But for bass you will need a big heavy battery.

Best bet is to get a Class-D Car power amplifier. It will already have the SMPS to convert battery voltage to higher voltage needed to drive a cabinet. You can find trickle chargers.
Take the line out from the Roland to driver the car amp.
Get a good efficient cabinet.

They also sell power inverters with batteries built in. You can plug in a combo, but it will not be to efficient. For home they are basically a UPS. They can be costly for any high wattage units.

+1.

Ive tried the inverter method, but those things put out a square wave. Every amp i plugged into it had nasty 60 Hz buzz. Grounding the unit helped with the noise somewhat, but still pretty bad.

Im getting a class-D car power amp for busking.

Edit: The unit that B-string linked to has a "modified sine wave" output. Mine does not. Maybe the Cobra inverter is not noisy.

The BEST busking bass amp is this:

http://www.carvinguitars.com/stagemate/

100 watts, great sound, battery lasts for hours. Had two of them in one of my former bands for camping/river front jams.

I do still have a little 30w Crate Taxi that does "okay", but if you went that route I'd recommend the 50w "limo" version.
