Good bass head for under $1000 Anyone know any good bass head for under a grand? not looking for something that loud. |
More than you will have fingers and toes for! |
care to recommend anything? I can't really specify the genres I play, as I play lots :) so versitile, and I'm looking for something that I could use in my bedroom as well as gigging. |
I'm thinking maybe an Ampeg SVT Micro Bass Head? |
Ampeg and GK have some great heads in the price range you are looking at. |
Genz Benz ShuttleMax 9.2. You can get these new for ~$1000. Used units go in the $500-$700 range. Lightweight and plenty of tonal options. |
Mesa Walkabout perhaps. Doesnt everything cost a fortune in Australia though? |
A grand Aussie is well over a US grand these days too. So many amps, get something with a lot of EQ shaping ability. I don't trust micro amps as far as I can spit one. If it can't survve being shot to the moon or be fixed in a shed with a soldering iron I don't want it. |
Ampeg: SVT-7PRO, PF-800/500/350, Micro-VR. Genz-Benz: STM-900/600, STL-9.2/6.2. All are wonderful heads, all are under $1000. They are voiced differently, so you have to decide what voice you want. Personally, I prefer the SVT sound, so I went with an SVT-7PRO, but the GB heads are just as good, maybe even better. |
I paid a grand for an SVT 4-Pro. (I think it was from Bass Central, a few years back) |
The Aggie TH500 is worth checking out. |
G-K 700RB II, 1001RB II, Fusion 550, MB500, MB800, MB Fusion, MB200 (Ampeg is covered). Hartke LH500, LH1000 |
its actually harder to think of heads over a grand!... anything from TC, Ashdown, Genz, GK, Hartke, Aguilar will all tickle your toes |
Sorry but not much available with that budget...best bet would be used, flea market, stolen............... |

How about my Gallien Krueger 700rb I'm selling! It's about 2/3s less than $1000! |
You want to ship down under and do the power supply voltage change before it ships? BTW we are already up to 20 specific amp models :) keep going :D |
+1000000000000 on the GK 700RB II, it's as loud or quiet as you need it to be, and tone for days. |
