Sign in to disble this ad
I have the 12 " walkabout scout and i LOVE IT.. IT rules

Now i need a little more volume.. do i keep the combo intact and attach another cab?

Or do i take out the walkabout head and just attach it to a cab? Im confused....

Thoughts?

Whats a good cab to get?

I picked up a Scout Radiator cab to accompany my WalkAbout Scout and it suits me just fine. You can use the head with any cab you choose, though. I prefer ported 12's, but I have used it with 6 10's and 2 15's and it sounded great. One cab in particular that I like with it is the Genz Neox 212.

Yes, it is lighter than the combo. Adding another 4 ohm cab to the WalkAbout has been the subject of some debate, as Mesa stated that the WalkAbout would handle 2 ohms, but did not recommend it. There are plenty of threads on TB about it, and as far as I know, there have been few, if any, issues regarding thermal shutdown. I have personally put plenty of hours on mine at 2 ohms and have never had a problem. If you are not comfortable running your WalkAbout that hard, don't do it, or at least go out of your way to keep it cool.

IME Avatar TB153 4 Ohm 3-way cab (based on the fEarful design by Greenboy) makes an amazing partner for the Walkabout head. I doubt you'll use the combo cab after trying it. It make your WA as loud as an excellent quality 410, with very deep, clear lows and mids.

I've given up on the Scout 12 box, and have been using the WA head with a GB Uber 212 for the past 3 yrs with excellent results. The amp is quite capable of pushing a larger spkr cab, and opens up nicely when it does. The little Scout 12 is an awesome box, but not able to produce "band level" volume at all.
