A Good, Cheep, Bass amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi;

I'm looking for a good bass amp to go hand in hand with my first bass.

I'd like to spend from $0 - $300

Some qualitys I'm looking for is loudness and a amp tone that won't wreak the tone of the guitar.

Thanks!

buy used and check the umpteen threads in TB, lots of advice, but at the end of the day, no substitute for playing through a lot in your budget and letting your ears be your guide.

Welcome to playing bass!

I hope you enjoy getting your first bass and amp.

for looking for an amp. Try and get something that is atleast 100 or 200 watts. These will hold up with a loud drummer usually. If you can get one with a balanced out that would be very helpful for gigging in the future.
So try and find a combo
personally I would go with a GK mb combo. the 12 is $340 which is $40 over but it a nice combo. The 15 is $400. if you are getting a 5 string bass the 15 would be recommended, but if you are playing 4 string the 12 is probably fine. They have good tone and a nice growl. They also definitely hold their own.
Look also at ampeg, Peavey, etc....
check Craigs!!!
get a bass used you will get better for cheaper.
I bought a bass a couple weeks ago (for an orphanage in Central America) for $175 that came with strap locks, $30 new strings, really nice pickups, and $100 case. That bass isn't too much worse than mine which is $700.

Hope you can find some gear for cheap. let us know what you find. have fuiun finding you sound and your gear :-)
if you have any questions let just ask someone here will know :-)
again welcome!
shalom,
Matthias

Fill out your profile it will help with suggestions.

What kind of music?

Will there be a drummer?

Do you just want somthing to get your feet wet and get a giging rig later when you learn more about bass and tone?

For a just starting out and around the house use the Peavey max112 is great. Also hear very good things about the Acoustic b20 both under 200 bucks! Take the other 100 and put it towards lessons or tuner and metronome.

I`m in the minority, but I stand by my Line 6 LD150. It`s loooouuuud, and has a huge array of tones, along with some decent, simple-to-use effects built in. They can be had used in great shape for around $250.
