Good clean booming cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a GK cab and I don't care for it much. I play mostly modern rock but I like super clean low booming sound. What i hate is a cabnet that produces a generic, metal, high mids kind of sound. I would like a 410 or a 212. and a amp to match, Any suggestions?

Well that was easy, Thanks. I was kind of eye balling the Ampeg, but Im just getting over my second back surgery so Im hoping I could find something not so heavy. If I do get the Ampeg im sure my band mates would help me out. By the way will a Gk 700RB11 fit well with it?

Ampeg SVT410HLF - Lows, in huge amounts
Ampeg SVT810E - Low mids.

Depending on what exactly you're after, either might work. The 410HLF goes very very low, but also goes fairly high due to having a tweeter. The 810 is pretty much the classic low mid, old school sound.

The old tweeterless 2x15 mesa cabs are good, but heavy. The ampeg 8x10 and 4x10 are good. The more recent mesa stuff all has tweets on them. But I suppose you can turn that off. The 2x12 mesa sounds pretty god to my ears. But again, mesa=heavy cabs.
