Good, inexpensive amp

I play bass in a rock band, I really like the guy from Thrice's tone, that sort of makes sense for us. I actually use a Grabber through an SVT Classic, and that works well. I've had a few 100w heads and they get too dirty and muddy at the volumes we need to keep up with our very loud drummer (I had a V4 reissue, for example).

The SVT is on the fritz. I'd like a backup amp I can use that'll produce a similar sound. I'd say a solid state would work, something more modern, as I used another band's gear recently and their bassist has TC RH450, which sounded great, but I also play guitar so being able to screw around with it with guitar might be nice (it probably sounds ridiculous, but an SVT sounds fantastic for guitar).

Anyway, I'd like to keep it under $400 used. I was supposed to be trading a guy some stuff for a Sunn, but he disspeared. I considered some older Univox stuff. Give me some suggestions. Thanks!

Sounds like a tough order. You know as well as I do that good reliable is not easy to find esp for $400. I had a
SvT400T that was 20 yr. old and would run what ever you needed to run ( sold it off for $300) sorry I did. Now I use a Fender TB1200 ($1300 new) as my back up to my svt-CL. I suggest you scour Craigs List or even this Forum (I don't do business here) to see what is out there.......Good Luck...
