Good used amps in NYC

Sign in to disble this ad
I live in Costa Rica, and I'll be on NJ/NY on september, and I want to buy a (maybe used) good amp, kind of Epifani UL902, a Aguilar or something like that... There's any place you can recommend me, with good prices and stock??

Actually I'm using a pair of Bergs that I love, and I want to maximize the sound of my Elrick 5st...

Thank you guys, and please excuse my poor english!!!

Well, there's always the Epifani and Aguilar shops, but they more than likely only going to have new stuff...and I'm not even sure they have actual stores.

You've also got:
30th Street Guitars
Rudy's
Sam Ash
Guitar Center Union Square
Ludlow Guitars
Umanov Guitars
Rivington Guitars

Finding a particular used amp in stock at a store is often a needle in a haystack. Stock changes every day of the week. Then paying a good price for it would be another major concern. I saw a very used GK 800RB at a local shop (shall remain nameless) the other day going for $800. You can get a brand new one for less than that...

Main Drag Music on the corner of Wythe and South 1st in Williamburg, Brooklyn carries interesting used gear at times. A bit on the pricy side, but you can negotiate and it is definitely worth checking.

Alpert I've heard about Main Drag, from what I heard it has some pretty nice gear, OP should check it out(I need to as well). Also check out Ludlow Guitars on 172 Ludlow street; i've been there and they have some Aguilar cabinets and such. Also, Ludlow has a massive selection of boutique pedals, if your into that.

Main Drag is my local shop. As far as used bass amps, they'll usually have some Fender Bassman amps and things. I know they had a Mesa 400+, an SVT 4-Pro, Ashdowns and a few others here & there....but they definitely do NOT have Epiphani's, Bergs or Aggies....!

EDIT: they do have one Epi cab:
Main Drag Music

They actually updated their site to be more informative and show more pictured of used gear:

LOTS of vintage ampeg and fender stuff, most likely because the hipster musicians in the area are all about vintage equipment and vintage look. I think they only 'new' gear Main drag sells is Orange....with a vintage vibe....
