hey guys. I'm currently building a replica of the old Sunn 200S 2x15 folded horn cab like what John Entwistle used to use. I'm going to be personally using this cab as well as a replica of the offset Sunn 4x12 cab for gigging. a few people I've told have expressed interest in buying one, and I've been thinking about making them in small numbers. I'm just curious if there is a market for it, and if people will be interested.
if people are interested, and I do start selling them, I will buy a vendors account for TB.
I probably wouldn't sell it for much over cost, though. just wanting to get more experience and get the cabs out there.

I could sell it as either. it'd be up to the buyer. it'd sort of be custom, really. there's going to be a design, but I would leave the speakers and the look of the cab up to the buyer. the speakers that's going in mine will be Eminence Legend CB15's. I've heard they're good replacement speakers for this cab.

If you want I can get you the internal measurements of the cabinet and the angle of the 1/2" folded horn shelf. I used those cabinets for many years. Best sounding full bass sound on the market. I know people are always looking for them.

I always thought that would be fun, though. Just building amps/cabs for fun, and building something awesome for people to enjoy. |

TravTrav, I'll see what prices will be, but I'm looking at making them affordable.

I'm also going to check with Scumback to see if they make/can make a speaker close to the JBL D140F, but with higher power ratings since the Weber speakers are rated at 75 watts. after some reading, I'm understanding the JBL's were good for 150 watts each. so, there will be a few different options as far as speakers go.

Ted Weber's favorite speakers were JBL's and he spent a lot of time and effort to duplicate the sound of them, but instead of alnico, he used the Neo magnets. I am sure that his speakers would take the same amount of power as the old JBL D140F's and K140F's.
Also, Scumback had their speakers designed and made by Weber, until the Scumback guy tried to threaten the Weber guys, and Weber stopped building them for him and offered them for sale himself. You can read about it at the Weberbbs.
And lastly, if anyone wanted a Sunn cabinet, they could get one direct from the guy who originally made them, Conrad Sundholm. He builds them on a custom order basis and can build it how you like. Front mounting is actually a lot better and sounds the same, and I believe that is how he does them now unless someone REALLY wants the original back-loaded style. If anyone was interested, they could check Conrad's site out and email him. His site is below, click on the "Welcome" link.

If people are thinking about buying a cabinet of this type, they should know their options. Its up to them if they want to buy from you or someone else, don't you think?
You shouldn't be allowed to shill for business on a public site and shut everyone else out of the thread just because they say something you don't like. It would be different if you were contributing to the site as any other manufacturer would have to do.
I think its pretty fair myself to point out other options to people. Its cool that you are trying to start a business, and I wish you good luck. It kind of sux though that you are starting your business by building something that someone else already did 40 years ago.
Why not build your own product or your own design? Don't you think that you are spamming the board by even starting the thread in the first place?
I also helped you along by giving you some info about the Weber and Scumback speakers that you might not have had otherwise.
Greg
