Guitar amp vs Bass amp

After 30 years of not caring what I play thru, I now care. I have been thinking of getting a 100w tube guitar head but can't afford the Marshall's. Looking in the 300-500 dollar range. The sound I'm looking for is the 70's Prog vibe.

Carvin and Peavey 100 watt tube heads can be found in that range.

The Silverface Fenders, Bassmans and PA's should fall into that price range.
Different tone than what You probably would get from the Marshall though.

Bugera 1960 should nail it pretty well. Quite a few threads about it here at TB.

Or a Sovtek Mig100.

Or a really beat up V4B.
