So I've been looking into a louder amp (hopefully gonna get an Acoustic B100 for Christmas if this doesn't pan out) and I came across this ( Guitar Hakfstacks for only $220! Ibanez & Hartke piggy back***********) and thought the Ibanez thing seemed nice (I also play guitar a bit, mostly just meddling around) so I'll probably leap on it but it got me thinking.....(this is probably obvious to you guys) but, what causes guitar amps to get wrecked by basses? is it the head or the actual speakers? |

Besides, the guitar rig will likely sound terrible as a bass rig. In my experience.

It's the cab that will be the issue here, specifically the speakers. They just aren't designed to handle the low end of a bass. Unless that's what you meant?
Many famous bass players use guitar heads. I've seen many bass players use a Custom 100 Hiwatt, or Marshalls. Some guys use Marshalls as an OD/Distortion "Channel", splitting their signal, and sending one signal into a Bass Amp, and the other into a Guitar Amp. Many of the older amps were designed for Guitar AND Bass, like the 4 input, 2 Channel old-school amps (like the Hiwatts)
Also, isn't Lemmys Signature Marshall technically a Guitar head?

It's the best of both worlds.
