I'm guessing that he's thinking a 4 ohm would be a slower mover, so the price could be reduced.
Most amps are limited to a 4 Ohm minimum load, so an 8 Ohm extension cab would seem to be more in demand (IMHO). I don't know whether that would enter into the pricing scheme at GC though.
