Any recommendations for me from those who have tried?
Thinking of one of those new Acoustic G120H heads upon an Acoustic B210 Neo. Mainly for a small rig loud enough for small-ish gigs.
Don't rip me a new one! |

I mean I get it when somebody says "hey my buddy gave me a guitar amp, can I use it with bass"--that makes sense. But why on earth would you go out and buy a guitar head? |

You can always turn down and FWIW, my B100 barely keeps up against my guitard's 40watt Rogue and just gets blown away by the old 22watt Fender reverb.

If you want to try a guitar amp, then at least, go for a REAL one. Look for a Fender Showman (pre 1968, ideally), for one, much better, example.

Also, guitar amps are designed for guitar (eq and effects) and bass amps are designed for bass (different eq frequencies that are more usable in the bass range).

1. Puny output transformer.
2. Low power.
3. Wrong EQ points for bass.
What's the upside?

| | | | I never understood this either, until I read that John Stirrat from Wilco does this. His bass sounds unbelievable in the studio and live, IMO.
However, I think I'll still with my Genz for the time being. |

He's all over the place live. Used an Orange back in the Yankee days, went through an Ampeg spell, and now is playing a one-off from Schroeder. But yeah, he doesn't make a habit out of it.
Primarily because it's a bad idea.
