Guitar through bass cab pt.2 (help! I'm dumb)

Sign in to disble this ad
I posted the other day asking if I could run my 100w Ibanez Toneblaster head through my "tweeterless" 600w Legion 4x10 and got the reply that as long as there was no tweeter there was no problem

Upon closer inspection of my cab (I dent have it handy for reference at the time of the original post) I see that it does in fact have a tweeter.

Will this cause problems when using with the guitar head? If so, would it be easier just to disconnect the tweeter?

Thanks

If you run overdrive or distortion with a tweeter it will sound like you are trying to string trim a bee's nest, then probably blow.

If you have an option to turn off the tweeter, just turn it off.

You can disconnect it, I'd take out the filter as well and make sure the woofer has a straight line to the jack with no crossover parts in between. Leave the disconnected tweeter in there to plug the hole so it doesn't throw off the box tuning.

Can play bass through it like that too if you don't need the tweeter in your sound.

If it's a piezo tweeter you can just unhook it, it won't have a filter...or just wire an on/off switch to it and shut it off for guitar.

The main issue is that guitar drivers are made to distort at low volumes. Bass drivers are not. What sounds good with the one instrument won't with the other.

Ill probably just disconnect it then. It doesn't have the on/off option.

Never done work on a cab before so wish me luck! Haha

IV played through crappy bass combos before for guitar. It sounds good enougb for what i need it for i was just a little more concerned for my cab than the $100 combo
