H&K Basskick 200?

Greetings fellow bassists.
I am seeking for some help to determine what is "the right bass combo" for someone that is interested in playing classic and progressive rock and a bit of jazz at times.
A after a poll that I'd set previously I came to the conclusion that the majority prefered the TC Electronic BG250, though I do feel a quite hesitant towards it, especially because of the cases that I have read about it not working properly at first, and I honestly don't find that tubeprint thing that useful; I'd gladly swap it for another EQ button (but that's just me)
I can't really get an experienced opinion about many amps given that I only have the chance to try out a very scarse variety in the local store, and have no way whatsoever to go to other stores, that are faraway.

Now, last week I tried this amp, a H&K Quantum, that absolutely blew my mind with the quality of sound and tone that offered, however, the price is miles away from my budget range.
So I've been checking out the Basskick 200 on the internet and it appears to be awesome but the subjective information that is offered is very limited.
Has anyone tried it or has an opinion about it?

Oh, another thing: Would it work well with a sansamp for recording, etc.?

H&K is the worst combo in its price range!
TC Electronic sounds better and it's lighter.

And how are the two compared on the versatility and reliability part?
One of the turn-offs that I find on the BG250 is the fact that the enclosure is extremely fragile, even though I'm careful.
And I doubtful of the amp's versatility for having only 3 eq knobs. Please correct me if I'm wrong, for this is only an assumption.

The TC Electronic has a wonderful sound with tons of tonal range, and get's rather loud for it's size.
It's a good amp.

How do you know the tube tone isnt useful for you? How do you know the EQ isnt versatile enough? How do you know anything about it other than what you read, if you havent tried one?

I would suggest looking at what your peers have written and take their advice. In the grand scheme of things, its not a life altering purchase and you just may be suprised.

Spend the extra money and get a cover for it from LeCover.

Good Luck!

The TC is a very nice, light weight combo. I picked one up during Guitar Center's holiday sale. No regrets at all. It gets LOUD and the Toneprint feature is great.

Got one for over a week. Great piece of bass gear Toneprint is great. Soon will be greater as TC is going to publish a software. You will be able to create your own "toneprints" and store them on your mobile.

Don't mind the poor quality cell phone video. Here is the BG250 in action. I used the Spectracomp Toneprint for the effect and just crank the Tubetone (tube emulation gain) on the amp for this song.

Same settings, just with tube gain on about 3 or 4. Don't mind the little guitar flub (around 1:40). Again cell video.

Best amp for the money out there right now.

Can't compare the 2, but I can tell you that you won't be disappointed with the TC BG250.

Casing is fragile, so I would recommend buying a cover.

Play around, and you'll be able to dial in a classic rock tone to your liking. The TonePrint "Spectracomp" is all you'll ever need from the effects.
