Hartke 210c?

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, quick question guys - I have a short amount of time to get a Hartke combo for about 40% less than it usually costs new. I was looking at a number of amps in that price range, including the Carvin, but atthis price....

Anyway, I haven't heard this amp and really just want a basic combo that covers a wide variety of styles at a decent volume. I don't use or particyularly like effects. Anything glaring about this amp that 'everybody' is aware of that I wouldn't be? I'm totally not an amp guy having played exclusively through PAs for about 15 years.

What is forcing my hand here now is the silly low price, and frankly it seems everyone here on TB likes the Hartke product line, this is just a last 'just in case' sort of thing from my side - a new product (haven't played through this amp myself yet) due diligence thing.

Thanks in advance

I think the Hartke 210c is going to do a decent job, with the speaker configuration and wattage, especially in conjunction with the DI on the back. I've had a Hartke combo amp which worked nicely, and I've owned and used a number of Hartke cabs which sounded fine to my ears. Just invest an extra $25 for a small hand cart/hand truck if you don't already have one. One single top-mounted handle and 61 pound weight does not seem like something that would lend itself to carrying around. I'd think at that weight, it would be best to have two spring-loaded, side-mounted handles. But it is what it is. Think about the hand cart/hand truck, especially with this combo.

Check out the PDF manual for this amp, which you should do for ANY bass amp/cab/gear you're considering:

Bought it 395 brand new, it has a scratch on the side so it's a 'cosmetic 2nd'. Now if I could get a Fodera with a little scratch on the back for 40% off...LOL

Ship it back to Arizona is more like it I should have just gotten the Carvin and paid the asking price. If it was a bass I would have gotten the bass I wanted and not settled for a steal of a price, I guess I jumped on the amp because I'm so used to playing clean as a whistle through PAs and thought most combos were going to be pretty similar at low bedroom type volumes.

I've played through one a few times... it shouldn't hiss. Maybe, because it is "scratch and dent" something gnarly happened to it.

I live in South Jersey... where did you buy it?

If they take returns, I would return it.

If you are interested to hear one to compare it... get in touch with 8thstreet music. They might have one on their showroom floor. They are in Pennsauken on Airport road.

I just wanted to close this out by saying it was repaired locally for free under warranty, and sounds great - very versatile, loud, etc. It has been a great bedroom amp for me, which is where I use it.

Thanks

I'm coming in way late on this I know but are you still happy with it? I just bought it new from Amazon for $529 including tax and shipping. I've bee playing a lot of combos in this range and was impressed with the sound a low volume, something I really need. I love Hartke either way. I'll have it next week and will find out for myself I guess.

Glad to see it was repaired under warranty. Probably was a tube in the pre-amp.

If you have any other problems I know Larry Hartke pops in at least once or twice a day to see what is going on and will help if you need it.

Hartke products rock. Now that yours is good you shouldn't have problems with it for decades.

Yeah, I'm still very happy with it It's a great sounding amp to my ears, and sounds great low and loud. I was just goofing on my fretless when I decided to check my old subscribed threads and saw this! But yeah, after the initial issues with it (I think something bumped loose when it took the slow truck from Colorado to New Jersey ) it has been a reliable dream. Even with the issue I had with mine I would still recommend one to anyone looking for a nice combo.
