Hartke 210xl at 4ohms?

I've got an 8ohm 1x18 cabinet that I want to put a 210 on top of, I've been looking at the Hartke 210xl but just read it is 200w@8ohms. If I use both 8ohm cabs with my GK 400rb IV that will put me at 280w @ 4ohms.

Will this be dangerous for the 210xl?

No. Each cab will get 140W. That's way below 200W. You are good. 18" is risky business all alone. I hope you have decent brand for 18"....

The 1x18 is a custom build with an Eminence driver, sounds great! Has a very unique voicing that I love but lacks some of the highs I'd like.

the 210XL is a sealed cab, so it has its limits, and I have found the 200 watt rating to be a bit generous under some conditions ... I have used two cabs with a 200 watt GK400RB and had it fart out if I was getting reckless ... I play within the cabs ability for EQ etc when I am using them ... I try to keep it around 50-60 watts per driver to be realistic with it ...

with all that said, I like the little buggers .. I have thought about stuffing better drivers in the boxes because the box size is perfect for moving/stacking/holding a head, etc ... they are built decent and are plywood, around 40+lbs if I remember correct without neos...

I cant comment on your using it with an 18", though .. I used two 18's 40+ years ago and couldn't imagine going back there ... but then I now use mostly all sealed 10's, so that says where I am at ... not sure I helped, but just dont be expecting a dynamo out of the little box ... JMHO

Edit to add: I should mention, part of the reason for my comments regarding the 50-60 watt handling of the drivers in the 210XL (other than my experience with them) is that if you remember, these alum cone drivers in the original (Transient Attack) 410XL's were rated at 60 watts a piece (240 cab) ... and I dont KNOW that they have nescessarily been changed, but perhaps the way they were RATED has been .. JMHO
