hartke 210xl

Sign in to disble this ad
im using a hartke ha 3500 with a hartke 210xl plus a 15on the bottom. I was wondering if anybody ever used two of the hartke 210xls together. Im thinking that should give 400 watts rms. this would be cheaper for me to buy 1 more 210xl .I really never played through 4 tens, is it loud, can you get some descent lows out of it. Im 59 years old been playing a long time. im tired of lifting cabinets. do you think two of these 210xls would get the job done. i mostly play in bars . steve

absolutely they would get the job done. my band's sax player doubles on bass and has one, and even though i'm not a huge fan of the xl hartkes, i like that one. as for the lows, only you can answer that, but i find i like cabs that aren't so bottom heavy. i think they actually give more usable lows than cabs that go lower. that's part of the reason so many people like ampeg 810's. but if you take two xl 210's, you will get a nice boost in the low end that you don't get with the single 210. plus there's no tweeter, which is fine by me.

i'd do two 210 xl's over a 210/115 rig any day. for best results, stack them vertically.

I had a 210XL (to go with my original Guild/Hartke 4x10, and my 4.5XL). I used it quite a few times by itself with both a 3500 and an Eden WT-400. I think two of them together would be a very nice, portable, and flexible rig. And probably much better than the 1x15/2x10 rig you're using now.

+1...IMO, Jimmy's on the mark on this, but I've read that Hartke recommends the 210xl to be mated with their 115xl cabinet.
I can't speak for the Hartke cabs but this is the way I run my "two" 210 rig, as a line array-vertical 410.
I noticed the other day, zzsounds.com had Hartke 210XL cabinets on sale for $199.00 each.

WOW!

Hartke's stuff is WAY cheap anymore.

4x10 XL for $350?!

The 2x10 XL at $200 seems like more than a fair deal.

What gives?? Chinese manufacturing?

The vertical orientation changes the dispersion pattern. Doesn't "look" right but you and everyone else will have an easier time hearing what you're doing instead of just your knees and those directly in front of you.

I've got the 7000 head and a 2-10+tweeter cab and a 1-15 cab, and I love it. But I think two of the 10" cabs might be cool too, maybe even better.

Billfitzmaurice, T.B.'s #1 speaker/sound guru, is who I'd give credit to for really getting the vertical line array bass cabinets idea going here at the forum. (I believe it might have started with the Grateful Dead stacking 1x15 cabinets to the sky.)
The essence of what Bill has said:
Using two 210's as a vertical stacked 410 will give better mids dispersion, better projection, better coverage across the stage, and less phase issues than a standard configured 410 cabinet.
You get the height advantages of a 810 cabinet, (speaker up closer to your ears), but with a smaller foot print on stage.
I like that I can use one cabinet for rehearsals/small low volume jams-gigs, both cabinets when more bottom, volume and coverage is needed.
To my ears, there are a few 210 cabinets that don't lend theirselves well to this idea, it depends on their voicing.
If you like the way your 210 sounds as a stand-alone chances are your gonna love two of them as a vertical 410.

So... I just traded a guitar for a SWR WM 4004 (Pre Fender) and a Hartke 115XL and was thinking I may want to add a Hartke210XL to the rig. What do you think? The 115 sounds pretty good but I'd like to have a bit more "punch" plus a smaller cab for small gigs.

I almost got one of these about 2 months ago to pair with a 1x12. But then I found another 1x12 that would stack really nicely with my existing cab for about $20 less. However, I still wonder how this cab would sound in the configuration I was originally going to put together. I really loved how my old 410 XL sounded. Talk about punch!

I use two 2x10xl's on my gigs because they are easy to transport. And I can really push them with my Hartke LH500
I dont like hauling big heavy speakers around anymore, I'm 64.

Two 2x10 cabinets are cool, but I would go with one xl, and one 2.5xl

OK, so I got my 210XL today. Zzounds.com Great price, shipped immediately. 3 days to the door. Totally satisfied. First impression.... Not nearly as much bottom in it as I thought I'd get. However... When I plug it in to the SWR 4004 along wit the 115XL, The floor rattles practically. There's a great "presence" all of a sudden. The 210 doesn't have nearly the bottom end the 115 has but it's mids are screaming! I like the two together. I know others here say you should stay with the same size speakers but i can honestly say I hear a big difference when the 115 is plugged in.
