Hartke 215 xl series potential problem?

Sign in to disble this ad
i dont think it is a problem and i would assume that i am plainly putting to much strain on the amp head but i just bought a used hartke 215 xl cab and i dont have a solid head to use for it yet because this is my first serious bass rig.
i plugged in a bassman 25 through the external speaker line out and when i really crank up the head it gets a little fuzzy.
i dont think this is from the cab because i tried it out much louder with a 500w and even a 1000w head (both hartke) and it sounded great. just want to make sure

a 25 watt amp into a 2x15 cab? I know there's no such thing as underpowering a cab but yeah, it's the amp!

Save a couple of hundred and get a used LH500 and you'll have a sweet (not so) little rig there.

+1 on the LH500. I actually use the same rig (LH500 through a 215XL) and it sounds fantastic. Definitely a rig that's not shy on the low end!
