HARTKE A70 or SWR WorkingPro 12 combo

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been looking around and these two seem to attract my attention the most.
I'll be going into the city next weekend to give them a go.
I want something I can use to practice with and eventually use for small gigs and jamming. What I like about them both is that they are both a "kick-back" style and reasonably easy to handle.
I will mostly be playing folk & blues type of music. Price also plays a role. I can get them for about the same price.
What all think of these two?

The

HARTKE A70

and

SWR WorkingPro 12 combo

Thanks

Ben

i have the hartke A70 and it is a great combo to practice and to use in small gigs! it is a small combo but it plays really loud. i have no experience with the swr but it should be great too.

I was looking for a combo a month or so ago and it needed to fill a few needs. It needed to have more tone shaping options than my 15 watt amp. It also needed to transition me from practicing to playing with others and maybe small gigs. I found a used SWR 12 combo locally at a good price. I'm pleased with it. Plenty of ways to shape tone. It sounds good to practice. It's doesn't have as much punch as some others, but that doesn't seem what your looking for.

I've never heard the A70 before, but it may lack power when you need it. I like the fact it has the headphone and AV jacks are on the front. They're on the rear of the SWR. I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor. If I were going to go Hartke, I'd spend a few more $ and go with a Hydrive combo

If it's strictly between the two, I'd go with the SWR. GK MB combos have been getting good feed back in quite a few TB threads.

I also was checking out the Roland cube for sale here and I liked this as well

F.S. Roland Bass Cube 100. Cheap!!
