Hartke Bass Attack Strait Into a Crown XLS 202

Hi Folks,

A special thanks to agedhorse for his help telling
me how to do the special wiring to hook up my
budget rig.

As stated in another thread, my son’s rack with amp,
preamp, conditioner, tuner, SansAmp, cables and
other stuff were stolen.

He still has his guitars and a Genz Benz GB 410T
XB2 8ohm cabnet. He’s broke and I’m on a fixed
income, but I wanted to at least get him something
he could play on stage with, cheap and fast.

I got a Crown XLS 202 two channel amp rated at
600 watts @ 8 ohms bridged. The GB 410 is rated
at 700 watts @ 8 ohms. I also got a Hartke Bass
Attack stomp box. That’s it. Less than $200 invested.

I was not sure if it would work without a real preamp
or not. I have heard that it would, and I’ve heard it
might not work.

but it does OK.

The sound is really good. I think I like the Bass Attack
better than the Sans Amp. I am impressed with the
rugged looking little gem.

This setup ain’t perfect though.

If it is used as a direct box without effect, the signal
Strength of the Bass Attack is not strong enough to
play loud unless I switched on the 18 volt on board
preamp on my old Silvertone Electra bass.

I had to use some effect to bring the amp to clip.

But, it works, and it is bad a$$ for the price!!!

Thanks TB for helping an old guy out,

David
