Hartke Cabinet wattage and ohms

Sign in to disble this ad
Need someone who know more about this than I do.

I have a Hartke XL 4X10 on top of a XL115

There are no markings on the 4x10 but various websites say it has 400 watts handling capacity. I sthis the absolute highest watts that you could push from the amp? in other words, would a 600 watt amp blow the speakers?

Also, the 115 says it has a 200 watt handling capacity but I don't get why they would be different since they are from the same series of cabs.

I am looking to run the Hartke HA3500 head which puts out 350 watts but I don't want it to be too much for my 115.

Advice???

No need to worry about the amp being too much for the cab.
The xl410 is 8ohms and the xl115 is 8ohms also, if you run them both with the 3500 you will get the full wattage from your head(350w), if you run only one cab the wattage will drop to about half of that (175w). If your using say a 600w head and using both speakers you will be fine, just listen to the speakers as you turn the amp up, if your maxing them out you will hear it. You can use a 500w amp into a 200w speaker there are no problems with overpowering a speaker. You just need to be cautious about how much you use of the amp to push it.
